Who, What & Where ??

“Who, What & When” will be a feature on
the new SRCC website. Periodically we will
post a picture to see if we can stump
everyone. Since this is the first one, I’m
going to give a little hint; there’s an award in
vintage racing named for the driver in the
middle car.
Can you name the drivers and cars ?
How about the year or maybe even the venue ?

That’s Hugh Kleinpeter (the Royale importer at the time) followed by Paul Tavilla, both in S2000M/RP37′s. I have the name of the T-590 driver somewhere, but this was taken at the National at Texas World Speedway!
OK Peter; you’re getting there. That is Hugh Kleinpeter #14 trailing a Lola T590 and it is a pair of Royales at Texas.
Alright, time’s up. Not much response, so here’s the answers.
That is David Smith in the Lola T590, followed by Mr. Kleinpeter and Ray Stover in a pair of Royales at Texas World Speedway on Feb 18 & 19, 1984.
