March 8, 2005 Board Meeting - Greensboro, NC
On March 2, 2005, the Board of Directors of the North America Chapter-Sports 2000 Racing
Car Club, founded in 2000 by Vaughn Rockney, met to fill three seats with 2005 dues-paid Club
members. They were selected based on their participation and, where tied in number of events
attended, by the number of points scored in the 2004 NAC-SRCC Championship.
This procedure is outlined in the NAC-SRCC Sporting Regulations.
Michael Crumay of Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, Tom Ash of Cary, North
Carolina and Greg Robison of Newark, Ohio were selected and have agreed to serve on the 2005
NAC-SRCC Board of Directors.
Long-time vintage and historic racers Larry Rossi of Woodbury, Vermont and
Cap Chenoweth of Stowe, Vermont have agreed to fill vacant Technical Committee seats.
Randall Yow of Greensboro, North Carolina was elected Chairman of the
Board. Yow's great experience in the leadership of the "356 Registry" over the last
decade, his level head, and his
grasp of the essential issues have already served the NAC-SRCC well.
Having received the 2004
NAC-SRCC "Rookie of the Year" Award, we look forward to having
him chair the April VDCA VIR
Round of the NAC-SRCC Championship.
Greg Robison, a long-time Sports 2000 competitor who owns an early Chevron
B54, an Apache
86S and has recently acquired an immaculate Lola T-598, was elected
Treasurer. He has begun
investigating incorporation of the Club in Ohio and is opening a bank
account for the Club. The
Club is solvent and has an adequate budget for operation with 43 paid
members already for
2005!
John Gaither of Kernersville, North Carolina, a tireless booster for the
Club, has been re-elected
Activities Chair. He will coordinate and assist event chairpersons with
activities, awards and
relations with our host sanctioning bodies at events throughout the year.
John, together with Paul
Tavilla, is coordinating the mailing of the latest issue of the English
SRCC Club magazine, with
wonderful coverage of our US Chapter activities, to every member.
Peter Krause will remain Secretary, Newsletter Editor and a member of the
Technical Committee
together with Rossi and Chenoweth. Krause will also be the point of
contact for new members.
The Technical Committee will function collectively as the Eligibility
Scrutineer to help serve as a
resource for members seeking to present their cars in the most
historically correct and accurate
way. Also, the Technical Committee will institute a non-invasive
compliance program at selected
events this year.
The preparation rules, eligibility and Sporting Regulations will continue
unchanged from the past
several seasons. We repeat, there are and have been NO changes to the
NAC-SRCC eligibility and Sporting Regulations made in the past several years and NO changes are
planned or will be made this year.
The 12-event schedule has begun with eleven Club members already out at
the first two rounds.
We can now offer a stand-alone race group at the Jefferson 500 on the
ORIGINAL 2.02-mile
course and wish to support both the VARAC Mosport Festival and the Classic
Formula Car
Racing date at BeaveRun, also with a stand-alone race group, in August.
Our season finale at
SVRA VIR in October should be as popular as ever!
In short, the Board of Directors of the NAC-SRCC wishes to reaffirm its
commitment to the
membership and the traditional sanctioning bodies who have supported us in
the past. The Board
of Directors remain true to the Club's commitment to support Sports 2000
cars built 1986 or
earlier at vintage and historic events under "no contact" rules,
encouraging social events and
recognizing participation above achievement. These are the foundations
upon which this Club
has sustained terrific growth, and these are the foundations that are true
today. Come join us!
