SCCA CLUB SPORTS 2000 Original Text
A. There are no permitted modifications allowed to the bodywork or suspension geometry except that the use of mid-year design updates as issued by the manufacturer are permitted.
B. There shall be no changes made to the location of radiators and oil coolers. The modification or addition of ductwork to these items is specifically permitted provided that such modifications comply with the GCR, it’s addendums and updates and the Sports 2000 specifications.
C. Coil springs, shock absorbers, steering racks and anti-roll bars are free providing they fit the original locations and suspension geometry remain unchanged from the original design. Wheels and track are free within the restrictions of the GCR and it’s governing bodywork coverage provisions.
All cars in all classes will run only the Ford 2 liter SOHC engine as outlined in the Technical Regulations. UK SRCC Class A cars, produced after 12/31/86, may be added in the future when SCCA moves away from the 2 liter SOHC Pinto engine.
B.2 Original Specifications:All cars shall be presented in the specification for such cars in their original year of manufacture. With the exception of engines, no updating beyond such specification or other modifications are permitted except that cars may be updated or modified to the latest specification attained by identical models in their last year of manufacture. The onus of proof shall be with the competitor/entrant. Safety modifications, as required by the sanctioning body, are permitted and required. Engine rules are covered in the Technical and Preparation Rules and permit some updating beyond original specification. The aluminum head is not permitted."
B.3 Technical and Preparation Rules: As there are recognized differences between SRCC Technical Regulations and SCCA Technical Regulations, a driver may choose to prepare his car to either set of rules, but may not use a combination of both. There are links to both sets of rules below and in the page's menu bar. The SRCC Sporting Rules and clarifications in the NAC-SRCC Technical Bulletins take precedence over either set of Technical and Preparation Rules. For example, the Technical and Preparation Rules would allow for newer Sports 2000 cars, but the Sporting Regulations do not, thus later model cars are not currently allowed.
For the S2000 Technical and Preparation Rules, click on one of following links:
B.4 Minimum
Weight: All cars must weigh, with driver, a minimum of 1310 lbs
at ALL times. Cars may be weighed at any time.
B.5
Body and Suspension Design: Body and suspension design should be as close as possible to the original. Updates are permitted on Historic Sports 2000 cars through 1984 and Sports 2000 cars through 1986. However, a Historic Sports 2000 1983 Lola T-594 updated with a 1985 T-598 body would be classed as a Sports 2000 car. Determining the class of an upgraded car will be based on the later of either the chassis design or the bodywork. No car may use a body that was designed and produced after 12/31/86.
See the Technical Bulletins
page for information about acceptable Swift DB-2 bodywork.
B.6 Chassis and
Suspension Improvements: Structural improvements to chassis
and suspension components are permitted in the interest of safety.
B.7 Exceptions: Solely
with the consent of the Board of Directors of the North America Chapter
SRCC in writing, cars in all classes may be modified other than as
permitted in B.2 on the grounds of scarcity or prohibitive cost of
contemporary components and where the modification is not primarily
performance related.
B.8 Changes: Car eligibility changes require membership approval. Significant changes to preparation regulations require membership approval
